IPC Core Content Areas
The International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) is an internationally recognized association that works with teachers, schools, school owners, parents, and local governments to deliver a strong curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten children aged 3-6 years. Their objective is to ensure what is being taught to children is not only of the highest standard in early childhood education, but also meets local government guidelines for Pre K programming.
The IPC provides a substantial amount of training, support, and guidance to their accredited schools, thereby providing your child with an excellent calibre of education. Any school wishing to become an IPC accredited centre, must adhere to a stringent, research backed, code of conduct and teaching.
An IPC school will deliver content in 6 key areas of child education:
Numeracy: The numeracy area will deliver and support the development of reasoning and problem solving skills through mathematical practice. Preschool students will be able to count to 20 and higher, count in groups of ten, make estimations, recognize patterns, understand currency and denominations, and understand the basics of addition and subtraction.
Science: Through a variety of biology, physics, and environmental science experiments and hands-on activities, children will learn how to use their senses and form a hypothesis, observing, questioning, and coming to a conclusion.
Socio-Emotional: Through stories and discussions, children in the IPL program will learn to interact, think, and reflect on their world and the relationships with those around them. This will foster skills of leadership, citizenship, and self-awareness.
Language: The core focus of this area is language development and comprehension. The IPC phonics preschool program will teach your child the basics of reading, spelling, and printing.
Motor Skills: Watch your child flourish and build physical competency by understanding rules, balance, safety, and team play for gross motor development. They will also hone their fine motor skills with cutting, colouring, painting, and manipulating small objects.
Creative Arts: Children will develop their imaginations and a love for self expression through song, rhythm, role-playing and fine art activities. Students will be engaged, have fun, learn building creativity and confidence along the way.
