Yes! Grey Matter Montessori accepts childcare subsidies. Recently the Government of Alberta introduced a subsidy of $75 off of the monthly preschool tuition for families. You are not required to apply for this reduction in tuition fees. As well, if your household income is below $180,000/year, you may be eligible for an additional $125.00 off of your monthly tuition. For more information or to apply, please click here.
Please note: for both subsidies noted above, when the school year begins and once the school receives any subsidy funds, they are credited to your next month's invoice. The initial school fees and monthly tuition are paid in full until subsidy payments have been received by the school.

At Grey Matter Montessori we believe that movement and physical activity is just as important in a preschool classroom as learning. Through our committed and trusted partnerships with community members, we actively seek to develop your child’s motor skills, self-esteem and lay the foundation for healthy habits and a happy mind.

Our Montessori school year follows the Calgary Board of Education Modified Calendar, meaning that it begins mid-August and ends the following June.
We chose a modified school year for our Montessori program to allow for effective and continuous learning. Students receive the same amount of instruction throughout the year, but by allowing for an earlier start, with some extra breaks in between, students are able to retain more of what they have learned.
Studies have shown that this approach alleviates problems associated with learning loss and that the balanced year is more suited to young learners.
We find that at this young age, 3 hours is the perfect amount of time for our students to maximize learning. Your child can attend either a morning class (8:30am-11:30am) or the afternoon class (12:30pm-3:30 pm).
We also recommend the 5 days a week program as our students benefit the most from the routine of coming to school every day. However, if this option doesn’t work for your schedule, we offer 2 days or 3 days a week as well.
There are local dayhomes in the area that offer before/after school care as well as transportation to and from our school.
To make it easy for the parents, all school fees are processed by pre-authorized debit.
Yes! Our Montessori school typically run summer camps in July. Summer is for fun and that’s what our camps are all about!
Our students wear school uniforms in accordance with the Montessori principle to create a distraction-free environment which allows your child to focus solely on their learning.
Our Montessori preschool uniform consists of:
The polo shirt can be ordered directly at the school at the time of registration. To keep costs to a minimum, the rest of the items can be found at home or in other stores.
