4 Reasons To Enroll Your Child In An IPC® Preschool

Your child's early education has a profound and enduring effect on their social, physical, and emotional development. Your child's early years are the foundation for their future development, providing a strong base for lifelong learning.

Young children are naturally curious and observant. They want to explore their curiosities and learn skills that their family and society value, such as being able to measure time, read, write, and so much more.

Preschool is about having fun and letting your little one develop important social skills that will stick with them throughout their life while also learning important academic skills in a structured environment.

What Is An IPC® School?

Learning with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC®) takes a global approach. This means helping students connect their learning to where they live as well as looking at the learning from the perspective of other people around the world. To provide students with a meaningful learning experience, activities are often project-based and related to relevant and current contexts such as the Olympic Games, elections, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The IPC® program is designed to enhance early childhood education with specific learning goals for each subject. The curriculum focuses on:

  • High levels of children’s engagement
  • Rigorous learning
  • International, global, intercultural awareness
  • Supportive teachers
  • Development of personal dispositions

The  IPC® method is based upon a partnership between the government, school owners, teachers, students, and parents and is offered in more than 1,000 schools worldwide. Teachers are required to complete training in professional development and hold certificates from the College of Teaching to ensure that they maintain a broad, internationally-minded curriculum that is applied to all subjects they teach.

Grey Matter is an IPC®-certified preschool dedicated to creating developmental foundations that can maximize your child’s future wellbeing. We can build their self-awareness to generate an inclusive understanding of the world around them. To learn more about our IPC curriculum and Montessori methods, call us at 587-707-4739.

4 Benefits Of The IPC® Curriculum

Well-Rounded Learning Methods

The IPC® curriculum caters to all learners and their preferred learning strategies within a creative, holistic learning environment. Children learn best when they want to.  The IPC® program carefully balances teacher-directed tasks with child-initiated learning to allow students to learn in an exploratory and valuable way. Classes and activities are set up to encourage students to explore their curiosities and question their findings and what they experience in the learning environment. This allows them to have a deeper understanding of the topics studied in class.

Comprehensive Curriculum

IPC® incorporates play, inquiry, and objective-based learning styles into 6 learning topics:

  • Creative Arts
  • Numeracy
  • Language Arts
  • Socio-emotional skills
  • Sciences
  • Motor Skills

This carefully designed curriculum has a global, all-encompassing approach that aims to enhance your child's development through cultivating creative expression, critical thinking, and essential skills.

IPC®-Certified Teachers

IPC® schools are very particular when it comes to their teaching staff. They understand the value and importance of having a qualified, skilled teacher that can inspire young children to fall in love with learning while also guiding them to enhance their educational skills. IPC® preschools require teachers to undergo comprehensive training programs and to participate in ongoing professional development opportunities so they can stay up to date with the latest educational practices. Classrooms also have a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure students receive optimal attention and increased learning opportunities from their teacher.

Parental Involvement

IPC® preschools recognize that parents play a critical role in their child's educational development. They encourage frequent communication between the parents and the school via newsletters and parent-teacher meetings to keep parents informed about their child's progress. This helps ensure that your child is successful in the learning environment or identifies steps to improve their learning experience and outcome.
